Comic Bobbie Oliver's Open Night at Dave's Chillin-n-Grillin

Stand-up comedians practice their jokes while you chill out—free comedy and a good sandwich, anyone?

Veteran comedian Bobbie Oliver likes to say that “people could use a good laugh for free.” Teaching people how to make other people laugh, however, is an art that requires careful practice—in “real” settings outside comedy school.

Today, Wednesday, Oliver will hold an open night for her comedy students at , arguably one of the friendliest and most laid-back environments in Eagle Rock. (Hold the Mayo, a comedy horror short film was shot almost entirely at this neighborhood mecca for sandwiches in 2010—if you missed our two-part story about the film, you can read about it here.)

Held every other Wednesday, from around 7:30 p.m. through 9:30 p.m., Oliver’s open night at Dave’s attracts other stand-up comedians as well. Sign-ups start at 7 p.m. and food is served until 9 p.m.
