Crime Blotter: Man Beaten After Basketball Game

Second battery in four months at Yosemite Park.

Northeast LAPD detectives are investigating an incident of battery in which an Eagle Rock man was beaten after a basketball game at the Yosemite Recreation Center.

The beating, by a young suspect in his 20s, occurred on June 8, Detective Miyakawa told Eagle Rock Patch. She described the suspect as “not a stranger to the victim.”

This crime comes four months after the brutal nighttime beating in the same park of a middle-aged jogger by a group of young men, a stone’s throw from the main office building of .

On April 27, the Department of Recreation and Parks installed a second surveillance camera in an area south of Yosemite Park where tagging is rampant. The basketball courts are located to the north, near an indoor auditorium and community center flanking Yosemite Drive.
