Move over boring candles and scarves, we've scoured Eagle Rock shops to find the most edgy, rocking, and left-of-center gifts our local stores have to offer for the holiday season.

Don't know what to get the artist, rocker chick, party girl or overall badass babe in your life for the holidays? Don't fret. I got you covered with a look at some of the edgiest, most rockin', coolest, hippest, and most left-of-center gifts of the season straight from our own Eagle Rock stores.

When your typical candles, gift cards, scarves and sweaters just don't cut it for that special someone with intimidating taste, it's time to think outside the box for a truly unique gift. I scoured some of my favorite Eagle Rock shops to come up with a selection of super-cool gifts that you certainly won't find at or .

Added bonus? Some these gift items are even made by Eagle Rock residents. This is a great way to support local business owners and artisans this holiday season. Let's go shopping!

Artwork by Artist Sisters CJ Metzger and Miss Mindy: If I could give an award to the Edgiest Eagle Rockers out there, it would go to these two sisters indeed. Their artwork is dark, edgy, and sometimes spooky, but at the same time it's also girlie, cute, and sassy. The sisters' (yes, real sisters) "Heart on Our Sleeve" exhibit of works in paint, pencil, and ink is up at through Dec. 29, with offerings as low as $10 and $20 for prints and up to $200-$1,200 for original paintings. And, for the edgy baby in your life, the sisters' collection of books is a must-have. Book titles include Princess La La & the Little Bee, by CJ Metzger and Teenie Tales, by Miss Mindy. Box sets range from $30 to $125. Perfect for your artist, Goth, rock, emo, Tim Burton-loving friend in your life. Leanna Lin's Wonderland, 5024 Eagle Rock Blvd., 323-550-1332.

Leather Cuffs by Almas: Reminiscent of the old-school Slinky toy, this leather cuff is made by Eagle Rock-based jewelry company Almas and features vegetable tanned leather from Argentina. It comes in black, white, yellow, pale pink, and light blue and is the perfect stocking stuffer for any rock chick, edgy babe, or daring dame. And it's just $15! Available at Heather's Store, 1565 B Colorado Blvd., 323-550-1625.

Black & Gold Chain Clutch by Urban Expressions: Every girl needs the perfect black clutch and this vegan "leather" design with the gold chain and braided ribbon embellishment is perfection personified. Dress it up with your fancy party dress for New Year's Eve or rock it out in some pleather pants and a cool tee, either way, this clutch oozes coolness. The inside lining is a gold and brown polka dot to give the tough-looking bag a girlie feel. It also comes with a chain if you don't want to worry about losing your clutch on a wild night out. Perfect for any girl with a rock and roll edge. It's $42 at , 4974 Eagle Rock Blvd., 323-254-6500.

Bottle Cap Charms & Magnets by Unorthodox Jewelry: Owner Chrissy Offutt, an Eagle Rock resident who is also roller derby enforcer "Beth Penalty" of the L.A. Derby Dolls, fashions these fashionable items from vintage bottle caps from old glass bottles of everything from Hooch Brew to Dr. Pepper. She inserts vintage and pop culture images into them, glazes 'em over and strings 'em up as necklaces ($18) or magnets ($3).  (Or, guys can take the charm from the necklace and use it as a hoodie pull.) The images range from vintage pin-up girls to the Morton Salt umbrella girl to Miss Piggy. Perfect for rock chicks, roller derby babes, vintage freaks, pin-up girls, and rockabilly babes. Available at Heather's Store, 1565 B Colorado Blvd., 323-550-1625.

Vintage American Car Handbags by Kim White: Highland Park resident brings us another very edgy gift in her handbags made from textiles used in American cars from the 1970s and 1980s. Each handbag is tagged with the year and make of the car the fabric is from. My favorite is her orange and black Camaro Clutch Special Edition made from a 1983 Camaro ($198). Perfect for vintage lovers, car buffs, and badass babes. Available at MediaNoche, 5048 Eagle Rock Blvd., 323-550-8941.

Candles by Skeem: Okay, we all know that candles are the laziest gift we can get a loved one. We're only supposed to buy candles for co-workers,  people we don't know well, or people we really don't like but have to buy a gift for anyway, right? But I do find that certain candles make it okay to break the no-candle rule and these gorgeous offerings from Skeem are one of them. Perfect for your more spiritual friend who digs yoga, meditation, and/or the Dalai Lama. The soy/paraffin wax blend candles range from $15 to $25 and come in silk-screened glass containers with tin lids, adorned with beautiful flowers and scrollwork. Scents include black currant, ripe papaya, plum blossom, water jasmine, and more.  Available at , 5060-B Eagle Rock Blvd., 323-258-2465.
