Merchants and residents asked for advice about improving pedestrian facilities on the neighborhood thoroughfare.
About 100 York Valley merchants and residents attended a planning meeting attended by District 14 Councilmember José Huizar at the” Glass Studio" on York Boulevard yesterday evening. The purpose of the Jan. 5 meeting in Highland Park was for residents from both Highland Park and Eagle Rock to meet with their local councilman to hash out plans for improving the popular business district.
The new so-called “York Vision plan” is aimed at implementing low-cost improvements on designated pedestrian segments of York Boulevard between Avenue 50 and Avenue 56. Community members were invited to participate at the meeting, and many responded, some more vocally than others. There were also many complaints, which the meeting hoped to help resolve.
Those in attendance were asked to advise on improvements to enhance the area. After the short meeting, a workshop was held where participants discussed how to proceed with the project.
