Three Wounded in Late Night Shootout in Bowling Alley

The victims, who had gang ties, were in the parking lot of All Start Lanes.

Three men suspected of having gang affiliations were wounded in a drive-by shootout in the parking lot of an Eagle Rock bowling alley late Friday night.

The shooting occurred at about 10:45 p.m. outside the All Star Lanes bowling alley, where the victims were attending a party or an event, Sgt. Wayne Guillary, the watch commander at the Northeast Community Police Station, said.

One of the victims was hit by a bullet each in the leg and the back, Guillary said, adding that he was rushed in an ambulance to the Huntington Memorial Hospital. The other two victims received graze wounds on the legs and chest and were sent to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, Guillary said.

Neither the number nor the identity of the suspects is yet known, and the LAPD is not aware of any witnesses to the shooting.

“We do know for a fact that the victims themselves are uncooperative and have gang-related ties” Guillary said, however, adding: “But we don’t know if the suspects are connected to any gang.”

An investigation is underway to determine the extent of gang involvement in the shooting, Guillary said.

Correction: The initial version of this article mistakenly quoted Sgt. Wayne Guillary as saying that " ... the witnesses themselves are uncooperative ... ." The quote has been corrected to read that the "victims"—not any witnesses—are uncooperative. The error is regretted.
