Veterans Honored at City Hall Ceremony (Photo Gallery)

Veterans and serving military personnel were recognized at a pre-parade "solemn ceremony" at Eagle Rock City Hall.

The skies remained mercifully clear Sunday as became the perfect setting for a Veterans’ Day "solemn ceremony" recognizing retired and serving military personnel for their contributions to the nation.

Starting at 11 a.m., several elected leaders— and Congressman Xavier Becerra among them—joined civic officials to pay tribute to veterans. Many of the vets were local residents who showed up in their old uniforms and reminisced to each other about their service.

After the ceremonies, many of the vets were bused to the Glassell Park Recreation Center to participate in the Sixth Annual Northeast Los Angeles Veterans’ Day Parade and Eagle Rock Centennial Celebration, which proceeded through the streets of Eagle Rock and culminated at .
