VIDEO: Firefighters Bust Graffiti Atop The Eagle Rock

LAFD's Urban Search and Rescue Task Force comes to the rescue of the Eagle Rock.

At the request of , the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue Task Force got on top of the Eagle Rock this morning and cleaned up some graffiti that had been a visible eyesore on the monument.

The media-studded event lasted several hours and had some harrowing moments during which firefighters rappelled down the west face of the Eagle Rock, braving a sheer, 150-foot drop that might have given experienced rock climbers the jitters.

The exercise was considered too dangerous for Graffiti Busters, a private organization that cleans up tag markings on behalf of the city, or the Department of Recreation and Parks to take on. Check out our video above!
