The Northeast Division of the Los Angeles Police Department is hosting its annual Senior Lead Officer Summit. Held every year, this event is an excellent opportunity to meet the men and women of the LAPD who protect this city every day. 

Attendees will be able to meet their 911 operators, hear presentations from the PAL Boxing League and the Bomb Squad, and learn about the 2013 goals of the Northeast Division.

Concerts in the Park:

Looking for something exciting to do next week Sunday? If so, join your neighbors at the Eagle Rock Recreation Center and listen to Funkomatics, playing disco, funk, and R&B. Hosted every year by the Eagle Rock Chamber of Commerce and Councilmember Huizar's Office, the concerts are a great family outing. Enjoy food from local vendors and more.

Eagle Rock Valley Historical Society Ice Cream Social:

Sunday, July 28, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock
2225 Colorado Blvd.

Come beat the heat at the Eagle Rock Valley Historical Society’s annual free Ice Cream Social. Enjoy dollar-a-scoop ice cream, “endless” toppings provided by Auntie Em’s, baked goods, and raffle prizes in the air-conditioned venue. Family entertainment will be provided by local musicians, including street organist Peter Breede, the Fifth Friday Folk Band, and the Eagle Rock High School Latin Jazz Band.

Additionally, at this year’s event, the Society will be recognizing those who have contributed to the preservation of Eagle Rock’s unique history with the first annual “EMMA” Awards. Highlights from ERVHS’s archives will be on display, and historical postcards, note cards, and books will be available for purchase. Plus, a free Historical Society T-shirt will be given to all new members at the door. Don’t miss out!
