Eagle Rockers Who Give Back

Patch highlights five individuals who are making a difference in the community.

This Eagle Rock mom is the lady behind the , a kids' resale shop which she owns and runs alongside her husband Dave. Green regularly gives back to the community; for the past five years, she has lead the World Music Song Circle at the American Legion Hall. World Music Song Circle is a free event and attracts families from all over Eagle Rock. Green has also partnered with The Maternal and Child Health Access to donate clothing items to Eagle Rock families. Green also uses her shop to host a free New Parents' Support Group which will start back up again in the fall.

Larsen is the president and public safety director of the . In this role, he volunteers in working toward the removal of graffiti in Eagle Rock, the clean up of the , the creation of increased local surveillance, and the eradication of illegal medical marijuana dispensaries. Larsen, who has lived in Eagle Rock with his family for four years, was also on hand to help out when ; Larsen called 911 and spoke out in a Northeast Community Police Station press conference following the attack. Larsen is clearly committed to the eradication of crime and violence in his beloved Eagle Rock.

3. Anne Wolfe

Wolfe, who is both the director of the  Bookstore () and the president of the , is a role model for young women. As president of the Twentieth Century Club, Wolfe leads 100 Eagle Rock women in matters of philanthropy (including  fund raising for college scholarships) around Eagle Rock. .

4. Kevin Parducho

When he wasn't not busy maintaining his 4.002 grade point average as a senior at  tennis team, you could find Parducho volunteering his time at Glendale Memorial Hospital and serving on student leadership. Parducho just started Occidental College, and he's sure to continue doing great things there. .

5. Samara Caughey

As the owner of , Caughey is committed to seeing the youth of Eagle Rock thrive. When students aren't learning about art and creating beautiful works at the school, Caughey organizes projects for the kids to help beautify Eagle Rock, such as the time the kids decorated the trees along Eagle Rock Blvd. with pictures of water and love (the things Caughey taught the kids trees needed to grow). Caughey is also responsible for kids' artwork hanging in businesses throughout Eagle Rock. Though The Purple Twig has only been open for a year, Caughey hopes to start offering scholarships and free classes to kids, as well, in an effort to give back to the kids and the community of Eagle Rock.
