Litterbugs Active Again Near Round Top Drive

Eagle Rock photographer Herb West reports the latest round of trashing near his home.

Eagle Rock resident and photographer Herb West, who lives nearby on Avenue 40, documented the mishap and alerted the office of about the unruly mess caused by people who park under the bridge.

The area, as West put it at the time, is a “breeding ground for people who do bad things under the bridge.”

Now Herb West brings to our attention once again what he says is the “steady accumulation of garbage” in the same area, evidently caused by people who appeared to be moving, but also by litterbugs.

What he has witnessed—and photographed—is “visually very disturbing,” said West, “and the thought of people being so callous makes me mad.”

It’s a far cry from the “fine photography that I've done lately,” added West, who recently returned from a trip to Alaska and will be offering a free seminar on travel photography at next month. “In one case, I pulled out a sketch pad from the trash—maybe someone will recognize the artist's work, and ID the culprit.”

Nate Hayward, a CD 14 field deputy at Eagle Rock City Hall, told Eagle Rock Patch that he has asked the Bureau of Street Services to clear the trash.

That last time around, it took BSS a couple of days to respond—and it’ll likely be roughly the same amout of time before they make another visit.
