PHOTOS: Mural Community Celebrates Lift of L.A. Ban

The resolution is introduced by Councilman Jose Huizar, who represents Eagle Rock.

Eagle Rock Patch recently received the following photos and message from Isabel Rojas-Williams, the executive director of the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles (MCLA). The photos were taken at Los Angeles City Hall on Friday, the day the council lifted Los Angeles' ban on murals.

The resolution was introduced by Councilman Jose Huizar, who represents Eagle Rock, and dedicated Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013—the day the ban was officially lifted—as "Mural Day" in honor of the art form.

"We, the mural community, are proud to have come to a beautiful ending. We are proud of having helped lift the 2002 mural moratorium," Rojas-Williams wrote. "We are proud our muralists' Freedom of Expression has been restored. We are proud from now on Mural Day will be celebrated on OCTOBER 12th!"
