Skies Over Eagle Rock Abuzz on Memorial Day (Photos)

World War II aircraft flew sorties over Eagle Rock in honor of war veterans.

Vintage World War II-era aircraft flew over the skies of Eagle Rock Monday as they participated in local Memorial Day ceremonies. Flying in perfect formation, they included planes from the U.S. Army Air Corp (the precursor to the current U.S. Air Force), German Messerschmidtss and Japanese Zeros, which attacked Pearl Harbor. Residents looked up in awe—and youngsters in delight—as the aircraft buzzed overhead, making numerous sorties over communities well beyond Eagle Rock.

Many of the aircraft appeared to be from Condor Squadron, a Van Nuys-based group of aviation enthusiasts who specialize in memorial flights in restored North American AT6/SNJ trainers flown during World War II.
