Four must-see Second Saturday Art Walk shows to choose from in the neighborhood.

Attention, art lovers—Eagle Rock has four terrific art exhibitions for today’s NELA Second Saturday Gallery Night Art Walk:

The painters include Eagle Rock resident Alex Schaefer, whose painting of a burning Chase Bank building recently sold for $25,000 on eBay, Oscar Arroyo, Jose De Juan, John Kilduff and William Wray.

The show’s opening reception is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., November 12.

2. A new exhibit, "Too Cool For School," features painted and sculptural works by artist Douglas Alvarez at . Alvarez uses the humor of popular iconography to explore his experiences in the public school system while growing up in Los Angeles. Click here to view Alvarez’s work that will be on display. Head out early to Cactus Gallery to preview the exhibition, which will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

3. Eagle Rock Artist Sisters CJ Metzger and Miss Mindy showcase their latest fanciful creations at from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Read about our recent profile of CJ Metzger by clicking here. And click here to enjoy our accompanying profile of Miss Mindy.

4. Curve Line Space (1577 Colorado Blvd.) features “euphemisms,” a set of new drawings by the artist and alumna Kenturah Davis. Davis draws by writing a particular text in repetition—she calls it “drawing with language”—either by hand or with the use of rubber-stamp letters.
