"Muerto en vida" - 7th Annual Day of the Dead Art Exhibit

Please join us for our 7th Annual Day of the Dead Exhibit!

"Muerto en vida," (Walking Dead) is the title of our 7th Annual Dia de los muertos (Day of the Dead) exhibit. A few people have asked me, why "muerto en vida?" Well, as many of us have been struggling and have been "spiritless" as of late, I thought the title to be fitting for this year's exhibit. But alas, it is also a time for celebration - a celebration of life and a time to be thankful, positive, grateful and appreciative of what we DO have.

Day of the Dead is commonly known as a Mexican holiday. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Altars, marigolds, offerings, skulls, masks, humor and tears all encompass this years old tradition.

Similar observances, festivals, and parades occur elsewhere in many Latin American countries, as well as Europe, and like celebrations appear in many Asian and African cultures.

The exhibit features more than 40 artists who have created original works just for the show: oils on canvas, acrylics on canvas and wood, dolls, masks, assemblage, photography, wood cuts, sculpture and tons of mixed media works!
