National Burger Day Countdown to Oinkster’s Burger Week

Tuesday was National Burger Day, but fans of Oinkster are waiting for its big annual event starting June 3.

Monday was Memorial Day. Tuesday? National Burger Day.

It’s not exactly clear why National Burger Day would immediately follow the day on which millions of burgers are consumed in backyards across the nation, but if you’re the kind of non-Texan who likes to wait at least 24 hours before chowing down on another meat/bun combo, look no further than the Oinkster.

That’s right, Eagle Rock’s inimitable restaurant is “Stop 3” on the L.A. Weekly’s Six-Stop Los Angeles Burger Tour For National Burger Day.

The Weekly recommends the Oinkster’s Royale—“a gleaming beacon to what outsized burgers we humans are capable of.”

Eagle Rock Patch stopped by the Oinkster on the night of National Burger Day to check out how burger sales were doing at our local fast-slow-food haunt.

Although restaurant manager Josh Salinas confided that the Royale wasn’t exactly the hottest-selling item on the menu—not after "National Grilling Day" anyhow—burger sales at the Oinkster are expected to pick up as the week progresses.

And they’re set to explode next week, starting Monday, when the Oinkster launches its annual Burger Week: Every day, restaurateur-chef Andre Guerrero will feature a different burger, including the restaurant’s version of some popular burgers such as the Baconator from Wendy’s and Bob’s Big Boy burger.

And of course, burger lovers who chow down on Oinkster’s offerings all seven days get a special-edition T-shirt.

For those who can’t wait for Oinkster's burger fest—or want a taste of what lies ahead—there’s always the Royale: At $10.50, it has your choice of cheese, chili, pastrami and bacon on a classic burger six-ounce patty, with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and more.

Bon appétit!
