An assortment of local offerings on National Coffee Day.

Today, September 29, marks the 464th birth of Miguel de Cervantes, considered the father of the modern novel, and the 104th birthday of the “Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry.

So it’s perhaps befitting that September 29 is also National Coffee Day—given how many millions of people read, write and listen to music from dawn to dusk in America’s coffee houses.

To celebrate National Coffee Day, 7-Eleven stores across the nation—and here in Eagle Rock—offered free cups of java from 7 a.m. through 11 a.m.
