Tuesday is Vegetarians’ Day at CaCao Mexicatessen

Once a week, Eagle Rock's most innovative Mexican restaurant offers two vegetarians specials for dinner.

Lovers of Mexican food know—or should—that is arguably Eagle Rock’s premier Mexican restaurant, not least because it’s one of the few places anywhere that delves deep enough into Mexican cuisine to offer not just authentic fare but dishes whose ingredients can be traced back to the indigenous culture of the Aztecs and the Mayans.

What a lot of people probably don’t yet know about CaCao is that every Tuesday for dinner the family-run restaurant expands its creative cuisine to include two vegetarian specials—not just standard dishes added to the menu to attract vegetarians.

This happens to be the third month that CaCao has been reaching out to the meatless, according to Chef Christy Lujan, who runs the restaurant along with her brother Andy, their sister Connie and Andy’s wife Blanca.
