Where to Study in Eagle Rock

Looking for a spot to study this summer? Patch has the scoop on where to hit the books in the neighborhood.

1.

This coffee-haven is the perfect place for students, writers, businessmen and the like. Enjoy a warm tea, icy frappucino, mini-donut or cheese plate while you work. There's plenty of space in this roomy Starbucks, plus an outdoor area. Opens daily at 5:30 a.m. and closes at 10:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. Stays open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

2.

Nothing can beat the quiet of the library, although this is one of the more noisy ones when it serves as an after-school hangout or a family meeting place. But it does have free wi-fi, plenty of public computers, plus the charming atmosphere that books always provides. Open Tuesday and Thursday, 12:30 p.m.-8 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

3.

As at Starbucks, you can score a latte and use free wi-fi here. But unlike Starbucks, you can also enjoy a cold beer, cajun chicken and a bohemian atmosphere. Open Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m.

4.

Though lacking wi-fi, Eagle Rock Park has trees, grass, flowers, open sky—in a word, nature. Grab a blanket, some sunscreen, and spread out under the sunshine as you read Voltaire or study physics. The park’s hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

5.

Though Swork is usually crowded, you can't beat its hipster-feel. There's free wi-fi with purchase, plus computers for public use. There's also a kids area if you bring the little ones. Open every day from 6 a.m.-11 p.m.
