Art Snyder Memorial Slated For Saturday at City Hall

The ceremony celebrating the controversial councilman will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.

A community memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday, March 23) for the late Arthur Snyder, who served Eagle Rock in the Los Angeles City Council from 1967 to 1985.

The ceremony will be held at Eagle Rock City Hall at 2035 Colorado Boulevard from 2-4 p.m, during which time a portion of the building will be renamed in Snyder's honor. 

Attendees will include former City Councilman Richard Alatorre, City Councilman Tom LaBonge and County Supervisor Michael Antonovich.

Snyder--a U.S. Marines captain, lawyer and lobbyist--died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, just three days before his 80th birthday.

He was a controversial figure in Northeast Los Angeles. He was beloved by many constituents for his presence in the community and attention to local issues, but his penchant for illicit behavior earned him infamy.
