Grand Theft Auto Suspect Arrested in Eagle Rock

Tuesday's arrest accounts for some of the seven GTA incidents over the past month.

Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested a suspected car thief in Eagle Rock Tuesday—and the suspect is believed to behind some of the seven Grand Theft Auto incidents in the neighborhood over the past month.

The seven vehicles stolen in Eagle Rock over the past four weeks are among a total of 61 GTAs in the entire LAPD Northeast Division, Senior Lead Officer Nina Preciado told the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council at its monthly board meeting Tuesday.

“Seven out of 61 is not too bad,” Preciado said, adding that there have been 10 burglaries, four robberies and one incident of aggravated assault in Eagle Rock over the past month. No further details were given, but according to the Los Angeles Times' crime mapping data, which is based on LAPD crime statistics, an average of nine burglaries per month have occurred in Eagle Rock since September 2012 (see attached graphic).

In addition, the vice unit of the LAPD Northeast Community Station arrested four women for alleged prostitution during recent investigations of 10 massage parlors in Eagle Rock, Preciado said.

Two others were arrested for running massage parlors without a state massage therapy license, Preciado said, adding that the vice unit has not released the addresses where the 10 massage parlors are located.
