Things to Do in L.A. Thanksgiving Weekend (Map)

If you've got family coming into town for Thanksgiving or you're just hanging with your buds after a family dinner, we've compiled a list of things to do in L.A.

Do you have family coming into town for the Thanksgiving weekend? Los Angeles is a great place to visit and chock-full of great things to do on turkey day and this weekend. We've compiled a list of great things to do in L.A. and surrounding areas below.

For those of your traveling near the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, remember that there will be a USC football game at 5 p.m. and traffic could be impacted. If you plan on using public transportation, many of the trains and bus lines will be operating on a holiday schedule Thanksgiving Day. Check the L.A. Metro, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus websites for scheduling and route information.

Eagle Rock Boulevard Block Party
Bring the whole family to Eagle Rock for its second annual block party on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 12-9 p.m., where a string of indie boutiques are hosting festivities with holiday food and drink, live music, designer trunk shows, a family zone, beer tastings and more.

Circus Vargas
The circus is coming to town and will be entertaining attendees at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia from Thanksgiving Day through Dec. 5. Aerial acrobatic performers, music and lights are expected to make for a dazzling show.

Queen Mary's Ice Kingdom
The Queen Mary in the Port of Long Beach has been transformed into a floating winter wonderland, hosting an indoor icescape, iceskating, tubing, winter sculptures, carolers and Santa Claus himself.

Disneyland
If you've got guests who've never been to Disneyland, this could be a good opportunity to visit the magic kingdom. The park is open this weekend from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Aquarium of the Pacific
Buy tickets on the aquarium website. The aquarium is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 Museum of Contemporary Art
The Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting a number of exhibits this weekend. Visit the website for exhibits and schedule.

Annenberg Space for Photography
On exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography is "no strangers: ancient wisdom in a modern world," a collection of images showing the plight of indigenous peoples around the world.

Saturday: 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens
Check out the Huntington Library's collection of rare books and manuscripts amassed by Southern California railroad and real estate businessman Henry E. Huntington. 
Hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 12-4:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday: Closed
Extended hours on Friday: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

J. Paul Getty Museum
With two locations in Brentwood and Pacific Palisades, the Getty hosts a number of art exhibits from the ancient world to modern times. Visit the museum website for exhibit and tour hours.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art
The L.A. County Museum of Art is hosting several family-friendly events this weekend including story time and a jazz band on Friday and an art exhibit and artist performance on Sunday.  
Hours:
Friday, 2 p.m.: Story Time
Friday, 6 p.m.: Phil Norman Tenet
Sunday, 4 p.m.: Hubby and Sola

Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum has a lot going on this weekend, including a dinosaur exhibit, an animal meet and greet, and a museum tour. Check the museum website for exhibit schedule and ticketing.

Santa Monica Gobble Wobble
Get your turkey trot on in Santa Monica with a 5k race/walk, a 1k "widdle wobble" for kids, games, contests and a Gobble Wobble kid zone that includes arts and crafts, face painting and a balloon maker. The event "runs" Saturday from 6:30-11 a.m.

Fantasy Tribute to The Beatles
Co-sponsored by 95.5 KLOS, this is a benefit concert for the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy relief effort. The event goes Friday at 8 p.m. in Redondo Beach.
