Meditation In Everyday Life - 1 day class in EAGLE ROCK

Have you ever been curious about meditation? Or wished you could meditate more regularly? Designed for people living in the modern world, this course provides students with introductory tools and teachings for working with meditation in everyday life. By deepening our experience and understanding of ourselves through peaceful abiding meditation, we more fully become who we are already are with our innate stability, strength, and clarity.

This program will provide an opportunity to learn and deepen one’s understanding of meditation, with practical suggestions for establishing a sitting practice in the midst of our speedy lives. Each class will include periods of guided meditation, talks and discussion of the challenges mediators face in meditation practice.

    NOTE: This program is usually offered as a five week series during weekday evenings.   At this time, SMCLA is delighted to offer this course as a one-day program for those who have not been able to participate in weekday programs. A continental breakfast and lunch are included. Please arrive in time to register at 8:30 a.m.

    Shastri Pamela Bothwell first encountered the Dharma at Tail of the Tiger (Karme Chöling Buddhist Contemplative Center) in Vermont in 1973. She has served as co-director of the New York Shambhala Center; Head of Practice and Study at Karme-Chöling; Head of Study at the San Francisco Shambhala Center; Ambassador to the Los Angeles Shambhala Center; and Co-Director of the Los Angeles Shambhala Center. A retired attorney who has been married for over 30 years, Shastri Bothwell is the mother of three young adults.  In 2010, she was appointed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche as Shastri for Los Angeles.

    Laura Landau was a script reader for the movie studios, eventually writing and producing an independent feature film. She then earned an MA in transpersonal psychology and certification as a poetry therapist. Laura entered the Shambhala world through Dharma Art (now called Shambhala Art) becoming a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, a meditation instructor, assistant director for Shambhala Training. She is currently at work on a screenplay.

    Please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or scented products to the LA Shambhala Center as some of our participants have severe scent-related allergies.
