Northeast L.A. Brewery Celebrates a Year of Intense Growth [VIDEO, PHOTOS]

Fast becoming a brand name in craft beer, Golden Road Brewery attracts hundreds of beer lovers on its first birthday bash.

Golden Road Brewing, a Northeast LA brewery whose “Point the Way” IPA was served at the 2012 Eagle Rock Music Festival kickoff party last month, is reportedly the biggest craft brewery in Los Angeles County. Just a year old, it is also the fastest-growing start-up in craft beer history, according to the Los Angeles Times, with more than 1,900 draft and retail accounts in the county.

On Sept. 22, Golden Road celebrated the first anniversary of its opening at its headquarters on the outskirts of Atwater Village on San Fernando Road, where it also has a pub and restaurant. Hundreds of beer aficionados paid $40 each for a tour of the brewery—and an opportunity to drink as much beer as they fancied.

Titled Better Weather Fest, the celebration coincided with LA Beer Week, a 10-day event that ends today, Sunday.

How do you call this Northeast? This place may be on the Los Angeles side but it is close to the Home Depot in Glendale on the other side of the train tracks. How is that Northeast? I don't think so.

I also have to say it is a really nice place. It is amazing what they have done. Kudo's to them. Their prices are mid-range, not cheap.

The brewery is in the 90039 zip code that encompasses Atwater Village, and if you ask the brewers, they say they're located in Atwater. That's probably a bit of a stretch, but Atwater's very close. And yes, Atwater and Glendale share a border.

their "point-the-way" IPA is the best in the business!

That is a Huge stretch. It is in West Glendale just on the Los Angeles side. Definately not Northeast, I don't think it is Atwater either that far west. I know it is in zipcode 90039 but it is as west as it can go and at the very end of the zipcode west.

I thought they said they were in Eagle Rock?

Doubt it. That would be Eagle Rock Brewery, which happens to be in Glassell Park: http://patch.com/A-ylF5

Golden Road Brewery is technically in the city of LA. The border is San Fernando on the other side of the railroad tracks.

I would not call that Northeast.

This comment is from Luis Lopez of the Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce: "Golden Road Brewing IS in Atwater Village … in Atwater's northern industrial district. Not on the "outskirts" as stated incorrectly in your article."—Luis Lopez Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce.

This place is in Atwater Village at the very end on the border of West Glendale. It is even past the old Levitz furniture store. That is way, way west from main street Atwater Village. It is a very nice place, prices are not high, but not cheap either, somewhere in the middle. Amazing what they have done. It looks great. I wish them luck but they do not need it. It is really nice to see a clean and nice looking business down that alley.
