Looking for a ways to support local businesses and schools?
We invite you to shop at , Thursday, September 13, 2012, from 7:00-9:00 pm. Twenty-percent of sales generated will be donated to Elementary. Supporters should mention Aldama so their purchase is credited towards the school.
La Tropicana has also started a Recycling Program that will benefit Aldama. A recycling bin has been placed inside the store to collect donations. Anyone wishing to support the school can donate aluminum cans, glass and plastic bottles during business hours.
Rana Silyan Redfield, owner of La Tropicana is exactly the type of partner Aldama Elementary needs. We are so grateful for our new partnership with La Tropicana. Rana is not only supporting Aldama Elementary but she is a community supporter. She has hosted , supported community beautification events as well as other community organizations.
The proceeds from La Tropicana's Aldama Day and the Recycling Program will be used to buy much needed school supplies and to support Aldama's Playworks program.
Last year Aldama had a budget of $30,000 to spend on supplies for the 2011-2012 school year, but with the extreme budget cuts Aldama only has $5,000 to spend this school year. Aldama was already struggling to provide the proper school supplies to teachers and students.
Playworks provides an unparalleled opportunity to foster the physical, social and emotional development of our children. Exclusively working on-site with low-income schools such as Aldama Elementary, engineering a powerful system of play that is making a daily difference is our children's lives. Each year the school PTA has to raise $27,500 to keep the program going.
Thank you for your support!
