Eagle Rock Man Killed in Crash on 134 Mourned

Editor's note: The following is an obituary from the family of Ozer Ozyildirim, who was killed in a motorcycle crash on the 134 Freeway on Sept. 17.

Ozer Ozyildirim, 42, of Los Angeles, passed away September 17, 2013 in a fatal motorcycle accident.

Ozer was born in Turkey and emigrated to New Jersey in the 1990s. In Istanbul, he boxed competitively and was a member of the prestigious Beşiktaş sporting club. He continued his boxing career in New Jersey, while working in the construction industry.

Ozer met his wife in New York City in 2008 and together they moved across the country, eventually settling in the community of Eagle Rock. He was a regular at Casa Bianca, picking up his family's weekly pizza order, and could be seen almost every night walking his sons in their double stroller along with the family dogs, often taking up the width of the sidewalk. He loved the outdoors. He loved life.

Ozer was buried in Duzce, the beloved village where he was born and raised, near fields of hazelnut and walnut trees. He is survived by his loving wife Samantha, his adoring sons Sailor and Lenny, and loyal dogs Tramp and Lula. He will be forever loved and missed.
