A Consortium of Concerned Citizens Mount Protest Against The State Park System Ignoring L.A. Municipal Codes to Permanently Install a Concert Space for 25,000 People & Violate Protected Indigenous Lands

A protest and press conference is scheduled to bring to light the State Park systems intent to ignore L.A. Municipal Codes for sound pollution, violation of bird nesting areas, violation of ancient grounds of the indigeneous historical sites located in the Los Angeles State Historic Park (LASHP) 1245 N Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90012 The group called Save the Cornfield coalition will be at the public meeting early at 6:00PM and will speak at 6:30PM to interested press and community stake holders regarding a startling list of actions that treat the well nurtured plants, land bird nesting areas and animal life as irrelevant to the transformation of the new construction project. When asked about this Ms. Campbell a spokesperson for the State Park system explained “that the state views the removal of mature trees and plants as necessary for the new grading and that the birds and pollinators currently living at the park will come back once construction is finished.” Please join us on March 13th from 6:30-8PM at the Goodwill Industries 324 N San Fernando Rd Los Angeles, CA 90031

Ms. Campbell goes on to say that the park’s plans to install the 25,000 person concert event space set for the center of the park is non-negotiable.  She freely makes this statement because the State has been hosting illegal concerts for the past several years in direct violation to noise level code violations among other city of L.A. violations.

There will be an installation of an underground electrical grid that may have a detrimental effect on the animal and plant-life at the park. This is done to the chagrin of a coalition of Native American elders, volunteer gardeners, Neighborhood Council constituents, community stakeholders, and professionals who have worked transforming the land at the State Historic Park AKA the Cornfield over the past 10 years. This group has galvanized to form the “SAVE THE CORNFIELD” coalition to prevent the destruction of the plant and animal life that is imminent. Contact californiaresident@yahoo.com

There are many violations associated with LASHP actions within their own internal mandates. Ignoring the fact that a biologist is supposed to be brought in to assess the effects construction will have on the bird nesting areas as well as the tree removal and other plant life with roots longer than 2 inches. As well as National Historic Preservation Act. That act created the National Register of Historic Places and mandated that future government projects investigate the archaeological history of a site before construction begins.

The irresponsible parties include LAHSP leaders Craig Sap, District Superintendent, Los Angeles District and State Parks Director: General Anthony Jackson 916-653-8380 among others.
