City firefighters battled a small brushfire today that charred an estimated quarter-acre of grass on the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway near Eagle Rock, a fire department spokesman said.

The small brushfire broke out around 2:10 p.m. on the south side of the 134 Freeway just east of the Glendale (2) Freeway, said fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

Traffic on the transition roads from the 2 to the eastbound 134 was temporarily blocked, as were two lanes of the eastbound 134, according to pictures from the fire.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, according to Humphrey.
