LAPD officers arrested an adult male after a freeway chase that began in the Rampart Division and ended in Eagle Rock after the suspect’s vehicle collided against a tree Friday evening.
Several units from the Northeast Community Station joined the pursuit, along with a police helicopter, on the northbound 2 freeway near Glendale Boulevard at about 8:10 p.m., Sgt. Wayne Guillary, the Northeast watch commander, told Patch.
While being pursued on the 2 freeway, the suspect’s car collided with another passenger vehicle and exited on San Fernando—only to return to the northbound freeway immediately thereafter, Guillary said.
The suspect then exited on Verdugo and sped north along Eagle Rock Boulevard. The pursuit ended on Alumni Avenue and Avenue 46, where the suspect’s car hit a tree.
The suspect tried to flee on foot but was arrested after a short chase that resulted in a knee injury to one LAPD officer, Guillary said. The officer was taken to a hospital in an ambulance.
Rampart Division officers took the suspect to their station, Guillary said, adding that he did not know what prompted the chase.
