Crime Blotter: Car Thefts, Burglaries

Capped by Friday night's armed robbery outside Vons, Eagle Rock logged nine crimes over the week.

Monday, July 25

At 4:20 p.m. on Monday— A vehicle was burgled on the 4400 block of York Boulevard, near the Eagle Rock Boulevard intersection.

7 p.m.—Another vehicle was burgled on the 5400 block of Townsend Avenue and goods worth $950 or below were stolen.

Tuesday, July 26

At 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday—A theft of $950 or below occurred on the Eagle Rock Boulevard/Verdugo intersection.

Wednesday, July 27

At 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday—Someone was assaulted with a deadly weapon on the 1300 block of Yosemite Drive.

At 3 p.m. on Wednesday—A theft occurred in a vehicle on 4800 block of Toland Way.

At 4 p.m. on Wednesday—Another vehicle was burgled on the 4400 block Corliss Street and goods worth $950 or below were stolen.

At 6 p.m. on Wednesday—A vehicle was stolen on the 4700 block of Avoca Street.

At 10 p.m. on Wednesday—Another vehicle was stolen on the 5400 block of Mt. Helena Avenue.

I agree with Patricia; the economy is making some people do desperate acts. Car theft can be the first step to more dangerous crimes, as desperation grows.

If the residents would shop local and actually use the community there would be less chances for criminal elements to take over the area. Use it or lose it.

The crime news around Eagle Rock is getting very scary. I used to jog alone esp. on the crime areas mentioned on the week of July 27 but since I read Eagle Rock Patch I got aware of this alarming crime around my vicinity so now I go on tandem either with my niece or with my husband.
