CRIME UPDATE: Alleged ‘Crowbar’ Attacker Charged with Attempted Murder

The suspect allegedly attacked a woman on Floristan Avenue on May 8.

A 21-year-old Eagle Rock resident who was arrested last week on suspicion of  allegedly attacking a woman with a crowbar is in jail facing felony charges for attempted murder, Lt. Mike Menza, an LAPD watch commander at the Northeast Community Station, said Monday.

The suspect allegedly attacked his victim on Floristan Avenue on the evening of May 8 and was arrested from his home on the 1600 block of Fair Park Avenue, a short walk from .

The suspect was identified as Isaac Garza by his father, Juan Garza, a general contractor, who blamed the alleged attack on drugs.

“Anyone who attacks somebody with a crowbar without provocation is probably mentally ill,” Lt. Menza said, adding that he did not have any details about the victim of the alleged attack, who was reported to be hospitalized in a stable condition shortly after the incident on May 8.
