Dodger Stadium Fire is The Second Outbreak This Weekend

Blaze put out in the storage room that caught fire Saturday.

Firefighters snuffed out flames in a storage room at Dodger Stadium on Memorial Day for the second time this weekend

The fire, evidently caused by flaming paper products housed in the storage facility, was reported around 5 a.m. and was put out shortly after, said Erik Scott, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"It appears to be a smoldering fire from the previous fire," he added, referring to Saturday's blaze in the same storage room. "Again, it was paper goods and some other products."

The Saturday incident occurred during a game against the Florida Marlins in the same 20-by-20 foot upper deck storage room. It was knocked down by 41 firefighters in 20 minutes, Scott said.

Play did not cease—gas-powered blowers directed smoke away from the fans instead—and no formal evacuation was needed, Scott added. Scenes and color from the first fire were reported on The Eastsider L.A.
