Don't Miss Tonight's Annual LAPD Event at the Greek Theater

Meet your captain, senior lead officers, the K-9 squad, even your local 911 operator.

The Greek Theater doesn't just feature Garrison Keillor or a string of pop stars every year. The men and women of the LAPD Northeast Division who protect you day in and day out also gather there annually for one of their biggest community events—the Senior Lead Officer Summit.

The highlight of Thursday night's event, which starts at 6 p.m., is a chance to meet your senior lead officer personally and admonish him or her for not returning all your phone calls. (They’ve been frightfully busy lately.) You also get to meet your regional 911 operator, members of the LAPD K-9 squad, and watch a contingent of the LAPD Bomb Squad in action. If that doesn't get you all fired up, a special presentation by the Police Activities League Boxing Program surely will.

Northeast Division Capt. Jeff Bert will provide updates on the latest crime stats and discuss crime activity as well as potential problems in the Northeast area. He will also discuss the LAPD’s 2013 community goals for the Northeast.

Besides the LAPD’s commanding officers and Northeast senior lead officers, representatives from the L.A. City Attorney's Office, special guests, and members of the City Council will be on hand, along with members of Business Law Enforcement Northeast Division (BLEND) and the Community Police Advisory Board.

An estimated 500 residents will gather for what’s forecast to be a balmy evening under the stars. There will be sumptuous—and free—food as well as free-flowing refreshments and delectable desserts. Arrive early and you’ll even get free parking.
