UPDATE: LAPD Deems Explosive Device Inert

A resident in Eagle Rock turned in the device to the local fire station this morning.

A possibly explosive device brought into the this morning has been determined as inert, according to authorities.

Lt. Rick Stabile of the LAPD's Northeast Station said that an Eagle Rock resident found a motor device, or military explosive, while digging in his back yard and brought it into Fire Station 42 at 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning. LAPD bomb squad detectives and the city fire department investigated the device after securing the area, Stabile said.
