LAPD to Conduct DUI Checkpoints in Eagle Rock

Checkpoints and saturation patrols are scheduled for the Hollywood area Friday night.

Los Angeles police will be out in force this holiday season, cracking down on impaired drivers using DUI stops and saturation patrols.

This week, the LAPD has scheduled a number of DUI/license checkpoints and saturation patrols.

Thursday night, the LAPD conducted two checkpoints, one in the Olympic area at Vermont Avenue and Fifth Street from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. and the second in Northeast Division at Eagle Rock Boulevard and El Paso Drive from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. DUI saturation patrols were also scheduled to run Thursday night in Hollywood from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

On Friday, a checkpoint is scheduled for the Hollywood area at Hollywood Boulevard and Bronson Avenue from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and in Van Nuys at Ventura Boulevard and Columbus Avenue from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Saturday's checkpoints will be held in South Los Angeles at Western and Slauson avenues from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and in North Hollywood at Laurel Canyon and Victory boulevards from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

On Sunday, the LAPD will be conducting DUI saturation patrols in its Hollenbeck Division from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., in Devonshire Division from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. and in the 77th Street Division from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Funding for these DUI/license checkpoints and saturation patrols is being provided for by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, according to the department.
