UPDATE: Man Fatally Shot, Woman Seriously Injured in Glassell Park Shooting

Police are reportedly looking for three men who sped off in a sedan.

A man was fatally shot Wednesday at a home in Glassell Park, near the Eagle Rock border, and a woman who might have been his wife was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

Paramedics responded to the scene of the crime on the 4400 block of West Avene 42 and Sagamore Way at 10:51 a.m., Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

A longtime resident in the area told Patch that she heard three gunshots from her home around or after 10 a.m.—a single shot followed by two shots in rapid succession.

According to Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department, the man died at the scene and the woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

A man near the crime scene told Patch that he saw a woman—possibly the one later hospitalized—run into a nearby liquor store, shouting, “We’ve got to get out of here.”

The man also said he saw a dark-gray sedan with three men in it speed off near the scene of the crime.

Broadcast reports confirmed the account: Police, the reports said, were looking for three men who took off in a sedan.

A 5-year-old boy, believed to be the victims' son, was taken into protective custody. Neighbors told KCAL9 that the family had moved into the residence in the summer.

A woman told Channel 9 that she heard a woman screaming, followed by three gunshots.

The man's body was found at the front door, on the porch.
