Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on 134 Freeway ID'd

Authorities today identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a collision on the westbound Ventura (134) Freeway in the vicinity of Griffith Park.

The crash, which took place in the slow lane of the 134 just west of the Golden State (5) Freeway, was reported at 6:37 a.m. Tuesday, said California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.

Ozer Ozyildirim, 42, of Los Angeles, died at the scene, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

According to CHP Officer Tom Miller, the motorcyclist veered to the right for unknown reasons and slammed into a K-rail. The 2012 BMW bike overturned, throwing him onto the freeway, where he may have been run over by a big rig, Miller said.

The crash shut down the number 2, 3, and 4 lanes of the westbound 134, creating a huge traffic backup and generating a SigAlert at 7 a.m. All lanes were reopened about three hours afterward.
