Robbery at Eagle Rock Medical Marijuana Dispensary?

Eagle Rock Herbal Collective shut down after what appears to be a robbery.

One of the 10 medical marijuana dispensaries in Eagle Rock was evidently the target of a robbery today, according to sources.

The dispensary, called the , was closed down this afternoon and a sign was hung on the front door, indicating the facility wouldn’t open until 6 p.m.  A quick look inside revealed employees struck with shock. A prospective customer outside said he passed by the store, located on 4729 Eagle Rock Blvd., at about 3 p.m. and saw a police car parked in front of the dispensary.

Gregory Beck, a spokesman at the LAPD’s media relations office downtown, said, however, that he had no report of a robbery at the marijuana dispensary. An officer who answered the phone at the LAPD Northeast Division Community Police Station also said he had no report of a robbery but added that the station's watch commander, who had stepped out for the day, might have information about any incident.

Asked if the dispensary had been robbed, an employee at the facility told Eagle Rock Patch "we don't have any comments for a newspaper."

A call by Eagle Rock Patch to Senior Lead Officer Craig Orange, who patrols Eagle Rock, wasn’t immediately answered.

We'll update this story with more information as we get it. Meanwhile, if you know anything, please let us know in the comments below or shoot us an e-mail!

I was in the parking lot at approximately 1:00pm on Tuesday when a guy ran out to his car, stating that he was inside when it was robbed. He also said someone had been shot. The police weren't there yet and a bunch of people were "huddled" in the liquor store next door.

The monthly Eagle Rock Neighborhood Watch (ERNW) meeting is scheduled tomorrow, Thursday, 3/17/2011, 6-7 pm at the Eagle Rock City Hall bldg. on the corner of Colorado Blvd. and Maywood Ave. The meeting does start at 6 pm, so please arrive by then in order to not have to ask Offcr. Orange to repeat information. If Sr. Lead Officer(SLO) Craig Orange is available to lead the meeting he'll be able to fill us in on the details of the incident at the Dispensary. Another note is that the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council (ERNC) has graciously passed on NW signs. I'm focusing on distributing these signs to any new or existing NW group that doesn't already have signs posted on their street. To be eligible to receive these signs, speak to your neighbors, set a date and time for a meeting on your block(s), and schedule that meeting with SLO Orange, who will lead that meeting and assist you in forming an active NW group. If you're on the fence about starting a NW group or haven't yet met SLO Orange, the monthly NW meeting is a great place to start, or you can contact SLO Orange directly at 213 793-0759. The ERNW meetings are scheduled for 6pm - 7 pm, at the ER City Hall Bldg., on the third Thursday of every month, except for the months of August and December. Helen Gustavson

Deneane: I understand that Officer Orange was off yesterday.

THEN YOU SHOULD OF NEVER MADE A REMARK BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY FOUND OUT HE WAS OFF (A call by Eagle Rock Patch to Senior Lead Officer Craig Orange, who patrols Eagle Rock, wasn’t immediately answered.)

Deneane: I don't think I made a "remark" but merely stated a fact—that my call went "immediately unanswered."

Maybe they didn't want people to know what they were robbed of, hmm? Certainly they have nothing to hide!
