City News service quoted Occidental College Director of Communications Jim Tranquada as saying that he had heard that the eighth student also had been released but that he could not confirm the student's release.

The seven students were in good health, Tranquada told CNS, adding that all eight students could face disciplinary action.

The students were attending a “Splatter Dance”—a “paint-themed” party—at Bell Field on the Oxy campus when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene at 12:23 a.m. on Sunday. No alcohol was reportedly permitted at the party, and it appeared that the students had consumed alcohol beforehand.

It was the second time this month that Oxy students had been hospitalized in an alcohol-related incident.  On October 8, at least four students were rushed to Glendale Adventist Hospital after an annual toga party organized by students.
