Sheriff's Department Boosts Crime-Tracking With Mapping System

A website used in conjunction with the department notes crimes in the area.

Eagle Rock residents can get a better visual picture of the crime happening near them through an extensive crime-mapping system, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department recently announced.

Crimemapping.com tracks crimes for the all of the cities and communities under the watch of the Sheriff's Department as well as other law enforcement agencies, such as the Los Angeles Police Department.

Previously, the Sheriff's Department had listed crime data on another website, making it sometimes difficult for residents to track crime in their neighborhood.

The customizable map service allows users to enter an address and look at all crime nearby the area with a radius ranging from 500 feet to 2 miles.  Users can also look at different types of crime and create customized reports from the service.
