Teenage Girl Injured in Second Shooting Thursday in Highland Park

Two men fired shots at two female teenagers outside the Highland Park Recreation Center.

An hour or less after two men fired shots into a group of people near Franklin High School Thursday afternoon, a second shooting has occurred in Highland Park.

According to Highland Park Senior Lead Officer Mark Allen, two female teenagers were sitting near the Highland Park Recreation Center (6150 Piedmont Ave.) when they were approached by two suspects who opened fire on the girls at around 4:40 p.m.

One of the teenagers was wounded and rushed to hospital by LAFD paramedics, Allen said, adding that no further details were available about the incident.

Neither the gender nor the identity of the suspects is yet known. Allen told Patch that he did not know if the earlier shooting incident near Franklin High was in any way connected to the latest events.
