UPDATE: Police Looking for 2 Men Who Robbed Medical Pot Shop at Gunpoint

The young suspects fled with an undetermined amount of cash and medical marijuana from the Eagle Rock Herbal Collective yesterday.

LAPD detectives have confirmed that one of the 10 medical marijuana dispensaries in Eagle Rock was robbed at gunpoint yesterday—and that two male suspects in their early 20s fled the premises with cash and marijuana.

There were at least six people inside the dispensary, called , when the robbers arrived at about 1 p.m. on March 15, brandishing two handguns, Detective Martha Ramos of the Northeast Division Community Police Station said. The suspects, approximately 6 feet tall, seized whatever cash there was in the cash register, as well an undetermined amount of marijuana, and ran out while the employees and others present in the store remained huddled inside, Ramos said. An employee called police, and two police units as well as an unmarked car with detectives responded to the scene of the crime within about 10 minutes, Ramos added.

An investigation is underway, and “we’re following up on clues that come in,” Ramos said. No suspects have yet been identified.

The robbery occurred about an hour before , West Hollywood Patch reported yesterday. The agents made one arrest, Weho Patch quoted City News Service as saying.

Eagle Rock Herbal Collective is located on 4729 Eagle Rock Blvd., directly next to a liquor and general store. It is not among the four medical marijuana facilities in Eagle Rock that the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office ordered shut, on March 7, for failing to sign up with the City for a lottery aimed at limiting the number of medical pot shops in Los Angeles to 100.

Eagle Rock Herbal Collective was closed down until 6 p.m. following the robbery yesterday afternoon. An Eagle Rock Patch reporter who visited the facility at around 4:30 p.m. found employees who appeared as though they were in a state of shock and did not respond to any questions about the robbery. An employee subsequently reached over the telephone refused to “make any comments for a newspaper.”

Calls to the dispensary this morning went unanswered.

We'll update this story with more information as we get it. Meanwhile, if you have any details about the robbery or the suspects, please let us know in the comments below or shoot us an email at ajayDOTsingh@patch.com.

Are they robbed more frequently than liquor stores? I think I'd rather catch the occasional whiff of smoke than have to step over the fallen drunks I encounter at at least the same frequency. I guess it does annoy me though, when I find empty medical marijuana containers at the park. Even that is with way less frequency than I find empty bottles, which actually are a hazard in an of themselves.

It's been fairly well-proven that drinkers are much worse behind the wheel than pot smokers. Ken Camp, Los Angeles
