2-Month Water Pipe Project on Eagle Rock Boulevard Starts Monday

DWP will replace a 20-inch water valve between York and Avenue Avenue 43.

Leaking water pipes under a stretch of Eagle Rock Boulevard south of York Boulevard have occasionally been a nuisance in the past for commuters as well as Department of Water of Power crews.

The problem is about to be fixed—but traffic disruptions between the York Boulevard intersection and Avenue 43 will continue on weekdays for approximately the next two months, according to a communiqué from the CD 14 office of .

Starting Monday, April 23, the DWP will begin replacing a 20-inch water valve in the area with a new one in three phases. The first phase will entail setting up traffic control signs, restriping traffic lanes, installing barricades and rails. In the second phase, DWP crews will excavate the old valve, replace it with a new 20-inch valve, and repave the street. The third phase will involve something of a reversal of the first phase: Crews will dismantle traffic signs and barricades while restoring the street to its original form.
