Tuesday's motion seeks to provide $10,000 in salaries for employees of the pool, scheduled to be closed August 12 because of budget cuts.

According to Alisa Newhouse Smith, president of the Glassell Park Improvement Assocation, the motion to keep the Glassell Park pool open beyond August 12 is expected to be approved by the City Council.

In a message posted on the Occupy Glassell Park Swimming Pool Facebook page early Tuesday, Smith wrote that Recreaction and Parks officials will be present in the City Council to answer questions from Council members before the motion is voted on. Smith also made an appeal in her message to “please share this information with any other organizations and neighbors that have expressed concerns about the seasonal closure of the Glassell Park pool.”
