Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council to Meet Tuesday Evening

Those who plan to attend will get an update on the ERNC election in October and get to have their say on any matter of concern to the community.

The will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. for its monthly board meeting—and all residents and stakeholders are invited.

The meeting will be held on the second floor of . Among the issues up for discussion or voting are two funding requests and an update on the Neighborhood Council elections, which are scheduled Oct. 13. The deadline for filing of candidacy is Sept. 13. (Click here to read a recent blog on the elections by ERNC Board Member Robert Guevara.)

The first funding request on the ERNC agenda is for a “cadet and boxing” program run by Business for Law Enforcement Northeast Division (BLEND), a business support group for the Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Community Station headed by Eagle Rock resident LaDell Stapp. The group purchases equipment—such as computers, cameras and color printers—that the City does not provide to officers, thereby helping improve their day-to-day effectiveness in serving the community.

The second funding request is for the Seventh Annual 2012 Veterans’ Day Parade. The ERNC has helped organize the annual event for at least the past five years. For the 2011 Veterans' Day Parade, considered by many residents to be the best celebration of its kind so far, the ERNC gave $5,000 from funds provided by the City—$1,500 more than the previous year.

The ERNC board normally meets on the first Tuesday of every month in Eagle Rock City Hall (the venue was changed from the , earlier this year). The meeting in August is scheduled on the second Tuesday, however, because National Night Out is celebrated on the first Tuesday.
