How to Register to Vote in Los Angeles

If you haven’t yet registered to vote, get it off your to-do list now.

Sept. 25 is National Voter Registration Day, and thousands of local, state and national organizations are scrambling to ensure that millions of people don’t miss the chance to cast their vote in the 2012 elections.

As many as six million people didn’t vote in the 2008 elections because they either did not know how to register or because they missed the voter registration deadline.

The voter registration deadline for California is Oct. 22.

Here’s information on how you can register in time for the Nov. 6 elections:

• Fill out a voter registration form in person at your local Board of Elections office. For Eagle Rock residents, the closest branch office of the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk is in East LA, located at 4716 East Cesar E. Chavez Ave., 90022, (323) 260-2991. • Download a voter registration form by visiting the California Secretary of State website, which can be accessed by clicking here. The process uses your California driver’s license or identification number to match your
  voter registration information with Department of Motor Vehicles records. Don't have a California driver’s license or I.D. number? You can still
  use the online portal but must print the form, sign it and mail it back.
