The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to ban medical marijuana storefronts, while maintaining the right of medical marijuana patients to grow pot individually or in groups of three persons or less.

Earlier this month, the state appeals court under California law and rejected bans imposed by municipalities, so it is still unclear if Los Angeles has the power to implement this ban. Some pot shop owners interviewed by Patch said they didn't think the ban would actually impact them.
"Honestly, I don’t think this ban is gonna affect us at all. It’s just a bunch of hoopla, and next week it’ll be something different," , owner of , a dispensary which has been operating since October of 2011.
