PHOTOS: World War II Planes Buzz Eagle Rock in Commemoration of Veterans' Day

Classic fighters flew several sorties over local skies on the holiday to honor vets.

Although many communities, including Eagle Rock, feted their veterans on Sunday, the official  federal Veterans day recognizing those who served—past and present—was held Monday. Eagle Rock took an unofficial part in one of the largest traditional ceremonies in the nation, held at Forest Lawn nearby. Residents were alerted to flyovers of historic World War II fighter planes that flew several sorties over local skies, causing many to look up in awe. The annual event was attended by many local veterans.
