Power Outages Hit Eagle Rock, Neighboring Areas

Highland Park and Glassell Park are the two other Northeast L.A. communities affected by power disruptions.

Eagle Rock, Highland Park and Glassell Park are among about a dozen communities most adversely affected by power outages as Southern California continues to be whipped by gusty Santa Ana winds reaching up to 90 mph.

As many as 88,700 people experienced power interruptions as of 6 a.m. Thursday, according to a news statement issued by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

About 83,000 of those affected live in Metro L.A. alone, while the rest reside in the San Fernando Valley, Maychelle Yee, a spokesperson for the LADWP, said in an email communication to the media.

Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Encino and Hollywood Hills are among the other neighborhoods experiencing power disruptions.

On Wednesday night, high-voltage power lines collapsed in a section of Yosemite Park on the outskirts of the Occidental College campus, causing sporadic but intense blazes and igniting the grass on the ground.

LADWP crews are working around the clock to restore power as rapidly—and safely—as possible, Yee said.
