Tonight's ERNC Agenda: Cell Towers on Church; More Trees and Public Art?

From updates on key land use issues to the greening of Eagle Rock's boulevards, the 7-9 p.m. gathering is all about neighborhood pride.

The Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council is scheduled to hold its monthly board meeting Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. in the Arthur K. Snyder Community Room at Eagle Rock City Hall, 2035 Colorado Blvd.

Here are some of the main items on the agenda for the evening:

• Discussion/Action: Land Use Report by ERNC Land Use Committee Co-chair Oren Bitan:

i. Cell tower for Highland Park Full Gospel Assembly Church. (Click here for background information. At last month's ERNC meeting, Pastor Patrick Kane told the ERNC board that the still-sluggish economy was hurting his church's revenues and that installing cell towers on the building's belfry would bring in $1,500 per month.)

ii. Conditional Use Permit for beer and wine sales at Four Café.

Update by ERNC Vice President David Greene on what a developer wants to do with the property on 1351 Colorado Blvd., former site of the Sightwaves/Boston Transmission shop.

• Discussion/Action: Tree Care Day with TreePeople on Colorado Boulevard, from Townsend to Figueroa, Sunday May 26, 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.; Part of the discussion will revolve around forming a Street Tree committee aimed at the greening of Eagle Rock's two major boulevards, plus the formation of a Public Art committee designed to discuss and plan for public art projects—from murals to phone-box painting to art bike racks—all designed to make Eagle Rock a more attractive place to live, work, and shop. Members of the public are welcome to join this and all ERNC committees. (Presentation by Kerry Tribe and Audrey Klein.)

• Discussion/Action: Letter by LAUSD teacher Jennifer Nutting to LAUSD board on how—and where—to spend of Prop 30 funds.

• Discussion/Action: Letter regarding League of California Cities’ amendments to AB 1147 regarding massage therapists. (Presentation by Baker Montgomery.)

• Discussion/Action: Letter regarding Board of Neighborhood Commissioners’ recommendation on Factual Basis Stakeholders. (Presentation by David Greene.)

• Discussion/Action: Community Impact Statement regarding Street Repair and Safety General Obligation Bond Program, May 21 General Municipal Election Ballot. (Presentation by Michael Blanchard.)
