VIDEO: Water Pipe Bursts Sunday on Avenue 46 and Westdale near Oxy

Ten homes were without water for at least 12 hours before DWP crews repaired the burst.

A six-inch water pipe burst Sunday on Avenue 46 and the corner of Westdale Avenue, flooding the area and leaving 10 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers without water.

The LADWP received a report about the ruptured pipe near the Occidental College campus at 12:54 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, and crews completed repairs by 1 a.m. Monday, a spokesperson for the utility told Eagle Rock Patch.

The spokesperson added that she did not know when water to the affected customers was restored.

According to one of the affected customers, Mollie Brown, an entire block did not have water for almost 24 hours. Brown said DWP officials told her that the  pipe burst was related to a gas line that had been laid directly overhead in the 1930s. Repair crews were busy digging up concrete into the wee hours of the morning in an effort to get to the damaged pipe.
